Teaching Basque

The Etxepare Basque Institute supports Basque language and culture courses taught at over 35 universities around the world.

Basque language and culture teachers change every few years and are selected through open calls.

The Etxepare Basque Institute works with partner universities to organize academic and cultural activities (workshops, conferences, seminars, cultural programmes, etc.). The Etxepare Basque Institute subsidises some of these activities through an internal call for teachers.

To ensure instruction quality, the Etxepare Basque Institute offers ongoing training for the teaching staff of the universities that offer Basque studies abroad. The Institute also offers specific training for those who wish to become teachers in the future.

Over 70 Euskal Etxeak (Basque Centers) around the world teach Euskara with support from the Etxepare Basque Institute.

The teachers tasked with Basque language classes at the Euskal Etxeak are selected by the centers themselves.
