What we do

Creation is an excellent indicator of the identity of a land. We are convinced that it contributes to diversity and believe in the transformative power of creativity. Based on this principle, we promote Basque culture at an international level in dialogue with other cultures.

With the aim of raising the international profile of the Basque language and culture and creating encounters with other languages and communities, the Etxepare Basque Institute promotes Basque studies in international universities and institutions of higher education through the Basque language and culture lectureship and assistantship programme. We also foster research on Euskara and Basque culture through Basque studies chairs created at leading universities around the world.

The Etxepare Basque Institute is a tool for the Basque Country´s cultural diplomacy and for developing international cultural relations.
