Transpoesie is a festival organised by EUNIC (European Union National Institutes for Culture) that celebrates the linguistic diversity of Europe, placing it at the core of the EU. The festival coincides with the European Day of Languages, which is celebrated on September 26.

This 14th edition will focus on surrealism at the centenary of the movement´s birth. From 26 to 28 September, round tables, poetry readings, writing sessions and other activities will be organised throughout the Brussels region. Poetry will be showcased throughout public spaces: in windows, on doors, in storefront displays, on public transport... Twenty poets will share their poems, each in their own language, each with their own story. By presenting these works in their original languages, along with translations in French and Dutch, Tranpoesie seeks to serve as a vibrant platform for the poetic expression of Europe’s linguistic diversity.

Along with Spanish, Hungarian, German, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese and Frisian (20 languages in total), Basque will also be part of the celebration. Writer Harkaitz Cano will represent the Basque language at Transpoesie. On 26 September he will take part in a poetry reading at the opening of the festival, in Citizen´s Garden, and at the Luxembourg embassy.
