Throughout the month of August, Basque creation took front stage at the prestigious summer festivals in Edinburgh. Over 40 Basque creators of the performing arts and literature travelled to the Scottish capital to show their work and strengthen ties with professionals from around the world. Artists and companies including Tio Teronen Semeak, Proyecto Colectivo HQPC, Akira Yoshida, Krego-Martín Danza, 2Theatre, the dancers of the Atlantik 1050 project, Miren Agur Meabe, Uxue Alberdi, Bernardo Atxaga, Eider Rodriguez, Harkaitz Cano, Iban Zaldua and Danele Sarriugarte took part in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Edinburgh International Book Festival.
The testimonies in the following video reveal the uniqueness, diversity and outstanding level of the different Basque cultural expressions. The programme designed to promote Basque language and culture in Scotland is sponsored by the Etxepare Basque Institute.
