Internationale Tanzmesse NRW 2024: Basque. Performing Arts.

Internationale tanzmesse NRW is a leading international contemporary dance fair, founded in 1994. Initially centred on marketing, it now focuses on networking and knowledge exchange between dance professionals. Artists from all over the world have the opportunity to present their work on stage, outdoors or digitally to programmers, artists and other dance professionals. The event will be held in Düsseldorf, Germany, from 28 to 31 August.

The Etxepare Basque Institute has an agreement with the fair to guarantee the presence of Basque creators at this important international event.

Basque. Performing Arts will once again have a stand at the fair with support from the Basque Government, the Etxepare Basque Institute and ADDE. Dance troupes, companies and festivals from the Basque dance sector will be able to learn about the work of contemporary dance professionals on an international level and interact with dance festival programmers at the Basque. In addition, among the artistic proposals sent in by Basque performing arts agents, ´AY!YA!´ by Macarena Recuerda Shepherd has been selected for the fair´s programme, thanks to Basque. Performing Arts. On the 30th of August, she will offer a performance in the Open Studios section.

Macarena Recuerda Sgepherd – ‘AY! YA!’

AY! YA! is a performative dance piece designed for a family audience. It plays with imagination and visual tricks to create illusions that challenge how we see reality. When the image that each person has of themselves becomes another image, the illusion that emerges multiplies or takes on impossible forms: bodies with several incomplete, transformable and adaptable limbs.
