From October 11 to 19, the Italian city of Udine will host the Suns Europe festival.
It is a music and performing arts festival focused on minority languages. The event provides an opportunity for all European communities to become aware of their linguistic rights and the importance of cultural diversity as heritage, a right, and an opportunity.
The grand finale of the festival will take place on Saturday, October 19, at the Giovanni Theatre. In the days leading up to it, a wide range of concerts has been organized, as well as events to share literature and other artistic disciplines. In addition to Basque and Friulian, the following languages will also be heard: Aromanian, Low German, Romansh, Faroese, Gaelic, and Catalan.
Representing the Basque language, Miren Narbaiza (MICE) will participate in the final on Saturday. It will be her second concert, as she will also take the stage on October 17. The Basque band Niña Coyote eta Chico Tornado will also participate in the festival with two performances.
MICE
MICE is the pseudonym behind which singer-songwriter Miren Narbaiza hides. An intimate place where she questions song form in order to experiment with her own vocals. The result is a handful of songs imbued with dark atmospheres and driven by sharp guitars. Seemingly caught between 80s post-punk and 90s indie rock, Mice releases the voice of her inner self in Euskara, her mother tongue.
