Registrations are open for Euskaraldia 2020!

Euskaraldia is an exercise aimed at changing the linguistic behaviour of people who understand Basque. The two-week-long exercise encompasses all areas of society and its main objective is to increase the use of the Basque language by changing the linguistic habits of our citizens.

This year the exercise will take place from November 20th to December 4th. In this edition, besides being able to participate individually as either ahobizi (speaker) or belarriprest (listener), the public can also participate as a group through the arigune (places to speak).

The arigune are places where Basque is spoken in a relaxed fashion and where people can always practice the language. Each person decides to be ahobizi or belarriprest within the arigune. The ahobizi is the person who undertakes to speak Basque at all times, while the belarriprest will always ask others to be spoken to in Basque, even if he or she does not speak it.

Yet another year, the Basque Institute Etxepare will plays an active role in promoting Euskaraldia 2020 in Basque society and around the world. Therefore, even if you live outside the Basque Country, you can register through the following link:
