Euskara. Kultura. Mundura.

The play Pulgarcito, directed by Iñaki Rikarte and produced by the Basque company Teatro Paraiso, has won the International Baroque Children Theatre Contest in Almagro. The company has been awarded on the third edition of this competition that takes place within the International Classical Theatre Festival of Almagro (Ciudad Real). The jury has stated that it has been a success to mix both adults and children to make the final decission.

Pulgarcito is a tale in which a witty boy saves his brothers and sisters, after his desperate parents abandoned them in the forest, due to lack of resources. The matter of the abandonment is represented by the relationship between a father and his son, what makes this play ideal for the whole family.

Tomás Fernández and Ramón Monje are the interpreters of the play and the Basque musician Iñaki Salvador has composed the music. The award will allow the company to represent the play again this Saturday and Sunday, on 19 and 20 July, at 20.00 in the Municipal Theatre.
