The exhibition Perpetuum Mobile, part of the 27th International Festival of Photography and Visual Arts (PHotoESPAÑA), will feature a Basque Window made up of works by six Basque photographers, with support from the Etxepare Basque Institute.
PHotoESPAÑA offers a glimpse into the latest trends in photographic art and showcases the newest projects from the most internationally acclaimed artists.
The group exhibition, Perpetuum Mobile, will be on display at Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid from 29 May to 1 September. The exhibition will feature 27 photographers experienced in the analogue-to-digital paradigm shift of the early 21st century, including six Basque photographers.
- Aitor Ortiz
Keen on exploring the dilemmas between representation and interpretation (perception), Ortiz creates a connection between the content of his images, the physical properties of the materials used for their reproduction, and their placement within the exhibition space.
- Bego Anton
Anton’s photographic work dissects human behaviour and reflects on our psychological and moral involvement with the natural world. He also shows particular interest in small groups to work on concepts such as truth, reality and fantasy.
- Ixone Sádaba
Sádaba pursues her interests through photography, installation and performance, constantly exploring the limits of the individual and violent nature of humanity.
- Jon Cazenave
His approach to photography starts from an intimate anthropological perspective and then develops a language that incorporates ancestral signs and symbols into contemporary creation.
- Jon Gorospe
Gorospe’s work focuses on the representation of the anthropised landscape, developing various bodies of work such as The Grid, The Spot, Polished Cities, City Drifters, Noraezean, Metropolis and Environments.
- Roberto Aguirrezabala
Aguirrezabala constructs his work through extensive documentation of various historical events, drawing inspiration from the political thought of those eras. His images serve not merely as reconstructions of the past but as warnings about the unresolved issues of our present times.
