Dr Martin E. Schimpf , Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs of Boise State University, has visited the Basque Country, and acconpained by the Etxepare Basque Institute, he has taken part at different meetings.
With Aizpea Goenaga and Mari Jose Olaziregi as guides, the Provost has met with representatives from the University of Deusto, the University of the Basque Country and Mondragon Unibertsitatea, to get in touch with the Basque academic reality.
Boise State University offers one of the most complete international academic programs on Basque culture -Basque Studies- which deepens in different themes such as our history, socio-cultural or political reality, language ... Boise State University also hosts a readership on Basque language and culture thanks to Etxepare Basque Institute. In addition, Boise hosts one of the largest international Basque festivals: Jaialdi.
The Provost is the senior academic officer for the university campus, and Martin E. Schimpf has held the position since 2010.
