International Basque Language Day in Leipzig

2013/12/05

Euskara. Kultura. Mundura.

The scholarship offers one fees-only bursary to support a Master of Research (MRes) in Basque Studies beginning in September 2020. The scholarship provides full fees at the Home/EU student rate (approximately £4,327) for students undertaking the one-year MRes in Modern Languages and Cultures in the Basque Studies pathway.

The University encourages applications from students wishing to undertake research related to the language, cultural production, cultural history or politics of the Basque Country. In particular, they encourage projects in the areas of memory studies, exile/diaspora studies, and European/cosmopolitan studies, all of which remind us of the biography and lifeworld of Manuel Irujo.

On the International Day of the Basque Language, on December 3rd, the manager of the "Euskara Munduan" program (HABE), gave a lecture on "Language Politicies in the Basque Country 1982-2011" at the Leipzig University.
