    Madrid

Once again, with support from the Etxepare Basque Institute, the Eñe festival will spotlight Basque literature, giving voice to outstanding figures in the Basque literary scene.

On this occasion, author Katixa Agirre will curate the ‘Window on Basque Literature’ (Ventana a la literatura vasca), which consists of three events to be held this Saturday, 16 November, at Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid.

Harkaitz Cano, Borja Cobeaga, Katixa Agirre
Culture, censorship and self-censorship
18:30 | Círculo de Bellas Artes

The session on Basque literature will begin with writer Harkaitz Cano and filmmaker Borja Cobeaga talking about culture, censorship and self-censorship. The two will examine how they navigate these subtle barriers, reflecting on a career rich with works that address complex and sensitive issues, ranging from the Basque conflict to political corruption.

Eider Rodriguez, Isabel Cadenas Cañón, Nerea Ibarzabal
Past and family: the other historical memory
19:15 | Círculo de Bellas Artes

Eider Rodriguez, Isabel Cadenas Cañón and Nerea Ibarzabal will delve into the topic of historical memory, focusing on family history and microhistory. Family histories not only connect us to our ancestors but also to society as a whole. What remains unspoken at home is often what remains unspoken in the public sphere. The three authors have drawn on family memories to craft their works of fiction and non-fiction, ranging from novels to podcasts. This effort embodies research, reconciliation, and empathy, yielding remarkable results.

Olatz Salvador, Eneko Sagardoy, Izaskun Gracia Quintana
Musical talk, from the intimate to the political
20:00 | Círculo de Bellas Artes

Singer and composer Olatz Salvador, actor Eneko Sagardoy and writer Izaskun Gracia Quintana will reflect on their commitment to artistic creation, the use of Euskara in their work, the safeguarding of intimacy and the delicate boundary between the personal and the political. Olatz Salvador will present songs from her new album ‘Zainak eman’.
