One of the ingredients of this year’s Festival Eñe, which runs for 17 days from November 11th to 27th, is a window to Basque literature supported by the Etxepare Basque Institute. Led by Bernardo Atxaga, the Basque contingent will take part in the festival with events ranging from readings set to music to round table discussions.
The festival is a meeting point for readers, writers and books. For the first time, the Basque and Catalan languages will have their own space at Festival Eñe with programmes curated by Bernardo Atxaga and Llucia Ramis, respectively.
The Etxepare Basque Institute will present Basque literature in three events at the Festival, curated by writer Bernardo Atxaga. Authors Uxue Apaolaza and Fermin Etxegoien will share their personal perspectives and ways of approaching the magic of literature in an event moderated by Nacho Fernández Rocafort.
Leire Bilbao, Juan Ramón Madariaga and Bernardo Atxaga, three Basque poets who also write in Spanish, will read their work, highlighting a variety of registers from the dramatic to the humorous. Bernardo Atxaga and Jabier Muguruza will also perform their music and poetry show entitled ‘El paraíso y los gatos´.
