The Etxepare - LABORAL Kutxa Translation Prize aims to recognize and reward translations of literary works originally written in Basque. Its main goal is to promote Basque literature on the international stage by awarding translations that bring these works to a broader audience. The prize will reward both the excellence of the translation and the effectiveness of the publisher´s promotional efforts. Consequently, both the publisher and the translator will jointly receive the award.
The prize is worth 4,000 euros. The publisher and translator will each receive half of this amount. Additionally, the prize-winners will be eligible for a grant of up to 2,000 euros. This grant will support their attendance at the prize-giving ceremony and further promotional activities in the country where the translated work is published. These activities may include presentations, events, publicity campaigns, and media interviews.
