Euskara. Kultura. Mundura.
As a result of the joint work between the Etxepare Basque Institute and the Mintzanet platform -of the group Maramara*- Basque artists and agents have offered training sessions from the Basque Coutnry to the Institute students at international universities, through the program “Euskal sortzaileak sarean”.
The recording of the first virtual lesson is already available (April 4). Iván Igartua (linguist and professor of Slav philology at the UPV-EHU) talked to the students at the Université Sorbonne Nouvelle III about the history of the Basque language, Euskera, with the help of the reader Miren Ibarluzea.
This project aims to enrich the academic offer of the Basque Language and Culture readerships of the Institute in 35 worldwide universities, and also to disseminate our culture further. The sessions have been done through the Mintzanet platform, created to give an opportunity to those who wish to practice Basque language and talk to other people through the internet.
The Institute readers have been given the chance to ask for the participation of artists and agents of any culture sphere. In the first season the names chosen have been the writers Mark Kurlansky, Eider Rodriguez, Unai Elorriaga, Itxaro Borda, Arantxa Urretabizkaia y Karmele Jaio, the professors Iván Igartua and Iñaki Martinez de Luna and the verse improviser Miren Amuriza (she will offer a talk on November). They have offered training sessions to university students in France, USA, Poland, Czech Republic, Catalonia, Germany and Italy about several subjects: Basque language, language policies, history, translation, literature, cinema or Basque verse improvising.

Mintzanet means to support all those who wish to speak Basque language, no matter where they are. It is for free and users may log in as many times as they want. The project is managed by Maramara * group, which is supported by the Basque Government, the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council and the Donostia-San Sebastian Council.
