Colombia opens a new window on to Basque creation

Basque Window (‘Euskal Leihoa’)
Thanks to this public initiative, Bogota will have the chance to discover Basque creative talent and enjoy various music, dance and theatre performances at one of the city´s main theatres.
Egoitz Sanchez will inaugurate the event on 6 June with the play ´Erreka Mari´ (‘Cola de Pez’). Erreka Mari The film combines memories, references, and recollections to explore the life of Egoitz Sánchez. Additionally, it examines media stereotypes, bullying, and the hypersexualization of childhood, both in the Basque Country of the 1990s and globally.
The Doña Perfectita theatre company will bring their work to the stage on 6 and 7 June.
Dance will come to Bogotá in the form of the OSA+MUJIKA company and their piece ‘Suddenly III’, which can be seen at the Teatro Mayor on 4 and 5 July.
‘Suddenly III’ is a visual work featuring a vibrant choreographic language, filled with energetic movements and striking images, with the primary goal of ensuring that these visuals linger in the audience´s memory.
The ‘Basque Window’ will wrap up on 26 October with music from Sigma Project.
The saxophone quartet Sigma Project, consisting of Andrés Gomis, Ángel Soria, Alberto Chaves, and Josetxo Silguero, will present a new recording project at this concert. This project features works by Colombian composers Noguera, Juan Antonio Cuéllar, and Rodolfo Acosta, commissioned by the Teatro Mayor.
Ezpalak in Bogotá with Basque. Music.
The band Ezpalak will take part in the next edition of BIME Bogotá, held from 6 to 9 May 2025, with a showcase organised by BASQUE. MUSIC.
Ezpala released their fourth album, ‘Gatza’, in autumn 2024. This new work is the first that they have self-published through their own label (Patana Records) and they will begin the presentation tour in April 2025. The album will be presented on 6 May in the Colombian capital.
BASQUE. MUSIC. is a project coordinated by Musika Bulegoa in collaboration with the Etxepare Basque Institute and the Basque Government. Its objective is to increase international awareness and visibility of the Basque creative, cultural and artistic scene and its cultural and creative industries.
