Call to select guest professor for the Jon Bilbao Chair at the University of Nevada, Reno

The Etxepare Basque Institute has opened a call to select a new research fellow at the Jon Bilbao Chair to carry out a research visit at the University of Nevada, Reno. The visit will last one month and will take place between August and December 2019.

The Etxepare Basque Institute has opened a call to select a new research fellow at the Jon Bilbao Chair to carry out a research visit at the University of Nevada, Reno. The visit will last one month and will take place between August and December 2019.

The person selected will develop the following activities, among others: implement the proposed research project; develop collaboration opportunities in Basque Diaspora research and identify new collaboration opportunities, as well as opportunities for including in American research institutions and organizations; and organize talks and conferences to increase awareness of the Basque Diaspora in the American academics and society.

The call has been managed by the Etxepare Basque Institute and the Jon Bilbao Basque Library at the University of Nevada. Applications can be sent from today, May 31^st, until the 30^th of June. The required documents must be sent by regular mail and e-mail. The contact person is be Iñaki Arrieta, director of the Jon Bilbao Basque Library. Applicants must hold a PhD and have experience in the field of Basque Diaspora research. Once all the calls are received, a selection committee formed by experts of the Etxepare Basque Institute and the University of Nevada will analyze and assess the proposals.

Created in 2014, the main purpose of this Chair is to promote international research and knowledge about the Basque diaspora and Basque culture, and to promote collaboration to further this objective. The Chair has created a research grant for a visiting professor, called the Jon Bilbao Visiting Research Fellow, renewable annually or biannually.
