Basque literature comes to autumn fairs in Europe. The first stop is the Gothenburg Book Fair (Göteborg Bokmässan), which runs from September 28 to October 1 in the Swedish city. Basque author Ixiar Rozas will present the spanish edition of her latest book, Beltzuria (Darkening), and will participate in a roundtable discussion organized with EUNIC (European Network of National Institutes of Culture).

On September 29 Rozas will take part in the roundtable discussion “Documentation in the female voice”. Mixing fact and fiction, Magdalena Platzová (Czech Republic), Theres K. Agdles (Switzerland/Sweden), Carmen Posadas and Ixiar Rozas will offer thoughtful insight into female protagonists. Through theatre, journalism and fiction, the authors will demonstrate the challenges experimented by contemporary and historical female figures.

On the same day, Rozas will present her latest book, Beltzuria (Darkening). Essentially, this compilation of poetry, short stories, and philosophy chronicles a voyage of exploration, which can be interpreted from perspectives as diverse as the lyrical and philosophical.

The Gothenburg Book Fair is a four-day celebration of literature, a fantastic mix of books, authors, readers and book-lovers. The days are filled with literary events, poetry readings, and interesting discussions and debates on almost every conceivable subject. New books are presented at the many venues and exhibitors’ stands, and deals are closed at the International Rights Centre, one of Europe´s most important meeting places for trading in Nordic literary rights.
