A new podcast that highlights Basque culture and creativity for a global audience
Euskara. Kultura. Mundura.
We are opening a new window to spread Basque culture and creativity around the world. BASQUE. podcast will give a voice to creators and inspiring individuals connected to the Basque Country. Journalist Oier Aranzabal will interview leading figures from cinema, gastronomy, language, and art: film director Esti Urresola, chef Eneko Atxa, artist Sahatsa Jauregi, linguist Hiromi Yoshida, and actor Itziar Ituño.
Aimed at international audiences, this podcast consists of five episodes originally recorded in Basque and dubbed into English. Each episode will feature insights into their personal and professional paths and delve into reflections on identity, success, the definition and role of art, and the future of the Basque language, among other topics. The interviews from the first season will be released between October and December 2024 in our Podcast section, as well as on various podcast platforms, including Spotify, iVoox, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, and Google Podcasts.
This podcast is a new initiative under the BASQUE. brand, which aims to promote the visibility of Basque culture and contemporary creativity around the world. The project, led by the Etxepare Basque Institute, seeks to introduce our culture and language through music, dance, theatre, cinema, literature, art, and other forms of expression emerging from the Basque Country.
One of the main showcases of the BASQUE. brand is the website basqueculture.eus, where international audiences can find information on various disciplines of Basque creativity, as well as on Basque heritage and language, through articles and stories written by those involved.
