Euskara. Kultura. Mundura.
Sisters Kattalin and Ane Bárcena, together with Javi Jorajuria, established the trio J Martina with a distinct vision for their musical direction. This group specialises in electronic pop, aiming to cultivate a unique style that draws inspiration from a variety of genres. Their 2121 debut was an EP called ´Jaio Naiz Baina´. In April 2024, they released their second album ´Negu Gorri´. The album captures the emotions of a time of crisis, exploring themes of melancholy, anger, and hope. It features a contemporary approach that blends traditional and modern elements.
J Martina is characterised by their focus on electronic pop with a personal and distinctive touch. Their music draws on a variety of influences ranging from contemporary to traditional sounds, such as Basque bertsos. The fusion of melodic tunes, synthesizers, and bold structures results in an interdisciplinary artistic endeavour that delves into profound emotions and contemporary issues through an eclectic array of styles.
J Martina´s artistic vision is worth emphasizing. In collaboration with visual artist Sahatsa Jauregi, they have cultivated a creative partnership that seamlessly intertwines music and visual arts. Their collaborations encompass music videos and live performances, where Jauregi´s aesthetics beautifully enhance the group´s vision. This synergy creates a unique sensorial experience in the Basque art scene.
