Basque. Playlist #13 - HOFE x 4:40
Euskara. Kultura. Mundura.
HOFE x 4:40 is a musical project between singer Igotz Mendez (Hofe) and the musicians and producers Xabier Lafuente and Marcos Galech (4:40). Drummer Jangitz Larrañana from the band Vulk is the latest addition to the group’s live performances. Although the three young men recently started collaborating musically, they have making waves in the Pamplona scene for years. They had previously played together as Nibbass, gaining notoriety on the Basque Country´s underground scene.
In 2022, the trio released the album ‘Amodioa’ (‘Love’ in Euskara) and in 2023, the EP ‘Amorrua’ (‘Hate’ in Euskera). They are known for their electronic sound, which draws influence from a variety of musical genres including trap, new wave, and synth-pop. This diverse range is reflected in their songs, both catchy and danceable. Their lyrics are full of attitude and emphasize artistic references to cinema, which can be heard in each track. They meticulously attend to both visual and sonic aesthetics, paying attention to detail.
Etxepare Basque Institute and the artist
The Etxepare Basque Institute collaborates with AIEnRUTa-Artistas to guarantee the participation of Basque musicians in the two annual music circuit calls (January-June and September-December). Hofe x 4:40 has been one of the artists selected for this year´s circuit, and will perform four concerts thanks in part to this agreement.
