Euskara. Kultura. Mundura.

The project Aquitaine.eus was launchedin March. The initiative has just begun, but there it still has a long way to go on. In 2017 the project will continue strengthening relations and cross-border cooperation between creators and agents in Aquitaine region (France) and Euskadi (Spain) in order to showcase basque culture from both sides of the border.

Basque groups will have the opportunity to perform at the cultural center Le Rocher de Palmer, in Cenon-Bordeaux. In August, and as every year, the fair of street arts Fest´Arts of Libourne will become a showcase for Basque dance and theater, and at the Dferia theater fair organized in San Sebastian four plays will be subtitled in French for foreign programmers. On the other hand, the Basque dance exhibition SOKA will be displayed in different cities along Aquitaine region, and the book ´Cine Vasco: tres generaciones de cineastas´ (Basque Cinema: three generations of filmmakers) will be translated into French to promote Basque cinema.

This cooperation project created by the Euroregion Aquitaine Euskadi, -comprised by the Basque Government and the Regions of Aquitaine-Limousin-Poitou-Charentes-, the Etxepare Basque Institute and Euskal Kultur Erakundea-Institut Culturel Basque, has bore fruit in 2016. For example, in Autumn, Basque jazz has been the protagonist in Bordeaux: an exhibition on the Jazzaldia of Donostia was inaugurated and Iñaki Salvador Trio offered a concert. The txistulari Garikoitz Mendizabal and the accordion player Aitor Furundarena also offered a workshop and a concert.
