The International Contemporary Art Fair ARCO Madrid opens its doors today, and Basque art will once again have a presence at the event. From now until Sunday, 208 galleries from 29 countries will set the stage for gallerists, collectors, artists and curators.
This year, a Basque gallery, Carreras Mugica in Bilbao, will take part in the fair with support from the Etxepare Basque Institute. They will exhibit works by artists including Eduardo Chillida, Itziar Okariz and June Crespo. Work by different Basque artists such as Cristina Iglesias, Itziar Okariz, Juan Perez Agirregoikoa, Txomin Badiola, Jon Mikel Euba and Esther Ferrer is also on display at ARCO.
The work selected for this year’s fair includes historical avant-garde, contemporary classics and contemporary art. Parallel activities, forums and meetings will also be held around ARCO Madrid, organized by the IFEMA Trade Fair.
