BASK: Basque Culture Festival this weekend in Wroclaw
2015/07/02
Euskara. Kultura. Mundura.
Since the middle of June the music performer Ainara LeGardon, the media-artist Jaime de los Ríos and the dancer Eneko Gil are doing artistic residencies in Wroclaw thanks to the second edition of the initiative promoted by Donostia 2016, the European capital of culture, and the Etxepare Basque Institute. The aim of this initiative is to promote the mobility, the dialogue and the collaboration among cultures.
The three artists selected this year, as the three selected in the previous edition -Matxalen de Pedro, Goiatz Labandibar and Maialen Sarasua- will take part with their own respective projects at the BASK festival organized by Wroclaw 2016, European capital of culture, from the 3rd to the 5th of July.
The third edition of the BASK festival
The third edition of the Open Lab of Basque Culture BASK will be the last before Wroclaw becomes the European Capital of Culture in 2016. How will the year – that citizens of Wroclaw and San Sebastian wait for – look like? Are we ready for it and what will happen afterwards?

Taking this topic as core idea, throughout three days Wroclaw will offer a varied program of Basque culture: culinary and fashion workshops, art interventions, shows, etc. Spectators will be invited to become acquainted with works of Basque residents hosted in Wroclaw and Polish residents hosted in San Sebastian. It is also remarkable the concert that will include three music bands: Delorean and El Txef from the Basque Country and We Draw A from Poland.
