Artistas en Ruta: selected bands for 2019 spring season

The program Artistas en Ruta (“Artists on the Road”) has announced the three Basque bands that will perform in live music venues all over Spain in spring 2019: Elkano Browning Cream, Ekiza and La Furia.

On the other hand, the bands that were selected for the 2018 fall season – Anita Parker, Muskulo and Pet Fennec – are already performing at the venues included in the program.

The chosen artists have very diverse musical influences and backgrounds. Jurgi Ekiza, vocalist for the rock band Willis Drummond, has taken a much more intimate and acoustic path in his new solo project named after his surname. The trio Elkano Browning Cream reunites members from the Basque Country, France and the UK to offer a fresh style of jazz with African and Eastern influences and a solid rhythm base. Finally, La Furia, the rapper from Navarre, performs in a hip-hop style full of combative and feminist lyrics.

The Artistas en Ruta program is supported by AIE (the organization in Spain that oversees matters of copyright for musicians and music executives). The goal is to promote live concerts all over Spain. To that end, AIE organizes live concerts at different partner venues, and some bands are selected twice a year by a jury of industry professionals. Thanks to the agreement between AIE and Etxepare Basque Institute, the presence of Basque bands is always guaranteed in the program.
