And the Etxepare-Korrika video contest prize goes to ... the Liverpool students!

2015/02/27

Euskara. Kultura. Mundura.

As the Korrika 19 approaches, the Etxepare Basque Institute and the  Korrika / AEK have organized a video contest for the Institute lectureship students worldwide. The competition was designed to show that the students of Basque language and culture in universities are also fully euskahaldun, in addition to spreading the message of the Korrika and heating up the atmosphere before March 19.

The international students have submitted a total of 18 videos, each one nicer than the other –watch them all on our YOU TUBE channel!- . But only one of them could stand out and, as the leaders of the two institutions have decided today, the prize of the contest goes to… the work presented by four students from Liverpool! The award consists of a stay in a barnetegi (Basque language school) to learn Basque and become increasingly euskahaldun. Zorionak!

The Korrika 19 will depart on March 19 from Urepel and will cross the whole Basque Country for 10 days; it will end on the 29th in Bilbao. Its message, however, will also cross borders and will be spread throughout the world,  like every two years: small Korrikas will be organized again in different countries, as many international groups join the initiative. The Etxepare Basque Institute will also help with the purchase of a good number of  Korrika chest guards, to encourage the students to international universities to join the event. Tipi-tapa-tipi-tapa!
