The English translation of a poem book by Karmelo C. Iribarren has won a prestigious award in the UK

The English translation of Poems the Wind Blew in by San Sebastian poet Karmelo C. Iribarren has won the prestigious Highly Commended Award and is a finalist in the CLiPPA Awards (Centre for Literacy in Primary Poetry Award) in the United Kingdom.

This book of children´s poems, illustrated by Riya Chowdhury, translated by Lawrence Schimel and published by Emma Press, was described by the jury as "a book to take with you, proof that poetry is ideas, thoughts and emotions captured in words".

The CLiPPA is the UK’s only award for published children’s poetry, and this is the first time a translated collection had been shortlisted since the award began in 2003.
