9th course on excellence in basque studies focuses on technology and the digital age

Every year, in collaboration with the UPV Summer Courses, the Etxepare Basque Institute organizes a course for teaching Basque Culture and Language in Foreign Universities called "Bikaintasuna Euskal Ikasketetan" (Excellence in Basque Studies). Under the direction of Garbiñe Iztueta Goizueta, Etxepare’s director for the Promotion and Dissemination of Euskera, the course, while open to interested party, is designed to reinforce the Basque language and culture teachers in the lectorate network.

Under the direction of Garbiñe Iztueta Goizueta, Etxepare’s director for the Promotion and Dissemination of Euskera, the course, while open to interested party, is designed to reinforce the Basque language and culture teachers in the lectorate network.

Entitled ‘Bikaintasuna Euskal Ikasketetan IX. Euskara eta euskal kultura eremu digitalean’, the course will focus on the impact of digital technology on the teaching of Basque language and culture. Several experts in the areas of technology, teaching, linguistics and Basque culture will give lectures related to the subject.

The program will address topics such as ICT in teaching, digital tools, digitized culture, social networks, literature and Basque art in the digital age, Wikipedia as a teaching tool, and audiovisual classes.

This year 13 experts will teach the course: Iker Arranz Otaegui (Lecturer, University of California, Santa Barbara), Abel Camacho Romero (Santurtziko Udal Euskaltegia), Ane Castelruiz Garcia (teacher, San Patricio School), Iratxe Esparza Martin (Lecturer, Department of Literature, UPV / EHU), Izaskun Etxeberria Uztarroz (Lecturer, UPV / EHU), Itziar Gonzalez Dios (Lecturer, UPV/EHU), Miren Ibarluzea (Lecturer, UPV/EHU), Mikel Iruskieta (Director of a university-specific degree on Technology and Education, UPV/EHU), Arantza Lauzirika Morea (Dean of the UPV/EHU), Iñaki Lopez de Luzuriaga Martinez (Euskal Wikilarien Kultura Elkartea), Detmar Meurers (Professor, University of Tübingen), Amaia Orbe Barrio (Reader, Freie University of Berlin), and Xabier Paya Ruiz (Cultural Coordinator).

The course will be held at the Miramar Palace in Donostia and will be worth 20 credit hours. Upon completion, each participant will receive a diploma. The registration period is now open. Complete course information and registration form are available via this link.
