Pamplona will host 948 Merkatua for the second time, from November 21st to 23rd. This arts market of Navarra, like last edition’s, will invite artists and area professionals from Euskadi and Nouvelle Aquitaine, in addition to those from Navarra. In fact, the aim of this encounter is to become a strategic cultural platform for the Eurorregion formed by these three communities.

The 948 Merkatua programme is divided into two areas. The first, 948 Merkatua PRO, includes activities for professionals, including expos, talks, workshops, and project presentations, and will be held every morning at the Baluarte Congress Centre and Auditorium. The second is 948 Merkatua Artistic, which offers artistic shows in different venues around Pamplona. These shows will be open to the general public and professionals.

To celebrate the Eurorregion’s participation in the arts market, the Etxepare Basque Institute will promote several activities. One will consist of assuring the presence of cultural programmers and agents from Nouvelle Aquitaine in Merkatua PRO so that they are familiar with the work of Basque creators. On November 21st, the cross-border collective project called Projection Basque will present Partir/Utzi, at 6 p.m. at Baluarte. The next day, November 22nd, at 10 a.m., Pantxoa Etchegoin (Basque Cultural Institute, EKE) and Imanol Otaegi (Etxepare Basque Institute) will talk about Aquitaine.eus, a project by EKE, Etxepare and Príncipe de Viana Institute of Navarre aimed at extending Basque culture to Nouvelle Aquitaine and promoting cross-border cultural collaboration.

Furthermore, during the three-day arts market, the Eurorregion will have a stand at Baluarte, where the Etxepare Institute, EKE and Príncipe de Viana will offer information about Aquitaine.eus. Finally, on November 23rd, at 9.30 a.m., there will be a meeting of promoters of Cultural and Creative Industries of Euskadi, Navarre and Nouvelle Aquitaine to study cultural projects in the area of the Eurorregion. Representatives from Etxepare will take part in this encounter.
