2023 grants for literary translation now open

One of the main focuses of the Etxepare Basque Institute´s work is on promoting Basque literature globally. In pursuit of this goal, the institute offers grants for literary translation, one of ways which aid in spreading the works of Basque writers on the global stage. The amount earmarked for 2023 grants is 63,000 euros; the window for submitting proposals is from 18 April to 17 May.

Eligible submissions include literary works originally written and published in Basque translated into other languages, and translations (into a language other than Basque) of literary works originally written and published in Spanish by authors registered in the Basque Autonomous Community. Funding may also be applied toward the cost of publication and promotion.

The call for proposals for translation of samples of literary works will remain open until 31 December 2023.
